The Modified Diet is awesome because you don’t have to worry about cutting back on protein, fat, or calories.
It’s not a strict diet
All you need to do is follow the approved food list, have one serving of fruit and starchy veggies per meal, and keep an eye on your Blood Sugar.
If you love cooking and want some creative ideas, a Modified Meal is super easy to make.
Just pick a protein source, add some non-starchy veggies, cook them in fat or butter, or drizzle with olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil.
And don’t forget to add a piece of fruit (but resist the temptation to add anything else!)
Here’s an example of how easy it can be to put meals together. (The below sample menu provides 74 grams of Protein)
Breakfast
3 egg vegetable Omlette (18 grams of Protein)
Cooked in 1-2 Tablespoons of Fat of choice ie Olive Oil, Butter Coconut Oil)
And one piece of Fruit
Lunch
A simple Salad for your road trip or day at the office or school
Greens of Baby Spinach, some leafy herbs and Avocado with tablespoon of whole egg Mayonnaise
150g piece of Salmon Grilled for 4 mins each side.
Drizzle with Olive Oil and some squeezed Lemon juice
Dinner
2 Roasted or Airfryed Chicken Legs (26 grams of Protein)
One cup of steamed Courgette
A Small Sweet Potato topped with the Natural juices from the chicken
Play with it and be creative
Many folks find that the modified diet can be quite helpful, but it's important to tweak it to fit your unique metabolism.
If you're keeping your blood sugar and insulin levels in check but notice some extra pounds creeping on, you might want to try reducing your fat intake a little.
On the other hand, if your blood sugar spikes after meals, consider cutting back on carbohydrates.
If you're still experiencing high blood sugar levels even at 60 grams of carbs per day, and your mental health hasn't seen much improvement, it might be worth exploring a ketogenic diet as your next step.
